About
4thHorn - Born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo, Debbie comes from a musical family. Music lessons started early and by age 11 she was playing the piano, violin, accordian and guitar. At 15 she began the French Horn and never looked back. Debbie earned an Honours Bachelor of Music in Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University with a double major in Violin and French horn. Summers were spent at both the Banff Centre of Fine Arts and as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. Debbie did a year of post grad work at McGill University, then remained in Montreal for 3 more years to play Principal Horn with L'Orchestre des Jeunes du Quebec. After that, Debbie worked at the Stratford Festival and then moved on to Toronto to play in the orchestra for The Phantom of the Opera. Freelance opportunities included work with The Toronto Symphony, The National Arts Centre Orchestra, The Canadian Opera Company, The National Ballet of Canada, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Toronto's Esprit Orchestra, Orchestra London, The Hamilton Philharmonic and The K-W Symphony. Studio work included movies, Imax films, TV shows and jingles and a tour to Brazil with Rob McConnell's 'The Boss Brass' in 1998 was a highlight. Debbie joined the K-W Symphony in 2003 and is happy to be back home where she lives with her husband, 2 children and their very large dog.
