Orchestras Canada is a wonderful organization which sort of aggregates, coordinates, and reports on all things Orchestra in (surprise!) Canada. What I find extremely interesting is what they chose to focus on in reporting about our upcoming season - "The Planets" (no surprise), "The New World" (okay), and then Sibelius' Fifth! We have not mentioned this symphony anything like as much as we've talked up the many piano concerti on our new season. And they are nowhere to be found in this blurb.…

It is my take on the 10/11 season. With marketing commentary. I hope I don't get fired.

BLAST OFF So the 10/11 season was just launched! And here is my general impression of the whole thing: It is pretty great.

Here is my breakdown.

The Gala: We got James Ehnes! Yes! I love this guy's playing (as much as I love any violinist anyway).
He's going to be playing "The Four Seasons"...bit of a letdown on that one, but I guess it "sells"...along with some pieces by Kreisler and Massenet and so it will be a Mixed Bag. I'm looking forward to hearing things I haven't heard before, and to hanging out…
